Ingredients:
8 ounces macaroni pasta
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
2 cups milk
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon paprika (optional)
Recipe:
-
Cook Pasta: In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the macaroni according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
-
Make Roux: In the same pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and whisk continuously for about 1 minute until it forms a paste (roux).
-
Add Milk: Slowly pour in the milk while continuously whisking to avoid lumps. Cook for a few minutes until the sauce thickens.
-
Add Cheese: Reduce the heat to low. Gradually add in the shredded cheddar cheese, stirring until the cheese melts and the sauce is smooth.
-
Combine: Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce. Stir well until the pasta is evenly coated.
-
Season: Add salt, pepper, and paprika (if using). Adjust seasoning to taste.
-
Serve: Serve the macaroni and cheese hot, optionally garnished with extra cheese or breadcrumbs for added texture.
